London Calling’s site partner, London Plus, has shared the latest opportunity to put London’s voluntary sector on the map with this year’s Third Sector Trends Survey.

What Is The Third Sector Trends Survey?

The Third Sector Trends Survey is a nationwide survey organised by Durham University. This survey is a fundamental part of an ongoing study of voluntary and community organisations, social enterprises, cooperatives, societies and amateur sport clubs (sometimes called the ‘third sector’. ‘voluntary sector, or ‘civil society sector’). It takes place every three years, and was started in 2010. The aim of the survey is to gain insights into how the voluntary and community sector works, achievements made, and future plans.

While the survey is nationwide, it is particularly important that all geographic locations are represented, including London.

Why Take The Survey?

Durham University has been building a picture of how charity organisations and groups work, what they achieve and how they feel about their future. This helps policy makers, funding bodies and CVSs to make good decisions on how to support the voluntary sector.

The survey is open to all third sector organisations – whether your organisation is large or small, thriving, struggling or just going along as normal.

By taking part in the survey, you will help to create a more transparent picture of the third sector in London, covering strengths and challenges, which will ultimately better steer future funding and resources.

The survey itself is available online in English or Welsh, and it only takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

Superhighways Launches New VCSE Dashboard

London Calling’s partner organisation, Superhighways, has unveiled a new data tool today, designed to enhance the data utilisation of London-based charities. The VCSE Dashboard (VCSE standing for Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise) aims to offer clear, comprehensive, and accessible insights into London’s charity sector.

Users can access the data at no cost and obtain personalised insights by searching according to borough, organisation type, and more. By providing a user-friendly interface and tailored insights, the dashboard is set to become an invaluable resource for the sector.

The launch coincides with London Data Week 2025, an annual initiative advocating for data transparency and accessibility.

In conjunction with the dashboard’s release, Superhighways is organising two events to guide users through its features and functionalities.

Charity Digital Launches New Code of Practice for 2025

London Calling’s partner organisation, Charity Digital, has launched The Charity Digital Code of Practice today. The Code is designed to assist charities in enhancing their digital sustainability, efficiency, and decision-making processes.

The Charity Digital Code of Practice 2025 offers a comprehensive framework that enables charities to benchmark their digital progress, support sustainability efforts, and make informed digital decisions.

Two versions of the Code are available: one tailored for Small Charities with an annual income of £1 million or less, and another for Large Charities with incomes exceeding £1 million. By offering tailored guidance for organisations of different sizes, the code ensures that all charities can benefit from best practices in digital management.

To complement the launch, Charity Digital is hosting a series of events aimed at upskilling the London charity sector on its digital and data use. These events are intended to provide valuable insights and practical knowledge to help charities navigate the digital landscape more effectively.

London Charity Sector Gets A Boost With New London Calling Website

The London charity sector is set to benefit from the launch of a new website created by Resource for London in partnership with London Plus. 

London Calling lists the latest events, training and funding opportunities from more than 50 partner organisations serving London’s not-for-profits. The site aims to support thousands of smaller charities, social enterprises, and community groups to better access events, training, and funding opportunities available to them across the capital and online.

The project was funded by City Bridge Foundation – London’s biggest independent charity funder – which bridges London and connects communities through grant funding and progressive partnerships and alliances.
